Case conceptualization is focus on a single particular case. Case conceptualization can be an aspect of traditional consultation, however, consultation can include a variety of other aspects including review multiple cases, career development, etc. Where consultation may be more of an on-going process, case conceptualization can be as little as a one time event.
Case conceptualization is different from qualified supervision in that case conceptualization meetings do not count toward supervision hours and that it is not an on-going process. Supervision requires routine meetings and review of all cases and an encompassing general oversight of professional development.
